    Proceeded overseas to France, 23 July 1917; joined 1st Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 15 August 1917.
    Reported wounded in action (date not recorded) (gun shot wound, chest wall and head); admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 4 October 1917; transferred to 3rd General Hospital, 5 October 1917; to England, and admitted to Mile End Military Hospital, 2 November 1917; discharged to NZ Convalescent hospital, Hornchurch, 9 November 1917; discharged on furlough, 11 January 1918; marched into NZ command Depot, Codford, 19 January 1918.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 9 April 1918 (hernia); transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 7 May 1918. Discharged on leave, 15 June 1918, to report to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 24 June 1918.
    Marched into Sling Camp, 1 August 1918.
    Found guilty, 18 September 1918, for being absent without leave: forfeited 1 day's pay.
    Proceeded overseas to France from Camp Sling, 30 September 1918; rejoined Bn, 8 October 1918.
    Appointed Lance Corporal, 12 December 1918; promoted Corporal, 15 January 1919.
    Detached to United Kingdom, 18 February 1919.
    Commenced return to New Zealand on board 'Tahiti', 27 May 1919; discharged, 1 August 1919.
