    Proceeded overseas to France, 21 June 1917; joined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, 8 July 1917.
    Wounded in action, 18 October 1917, and admitted to 2/1 East Lancashire Field Ambulance (mustard gas shell); transferred to No 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 20 October 1917; to No 14 General Hospital, Wimereux, 22 October 1917; to England, 29 October 1917, and admitted to 1st Birmingham War Hospital, Rednal, 30 October 1917.
    Transferred to No 1 NZ General hospital, Brockenhurst, 16 November 1917; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 4 January 1918; attached to NZ Reserve Group, Sling Camp, 4 March 1918.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 15 April 1918; joined No 1 NZ Entrenching Bn, in the field, 19 May 1918.
    Joined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 29 August 1918.
    Wounded in action (second occasion), 29 September 1918 (multiple gun shot wounds, face), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance; discharged to unit, 3 October 1918; rejoined unit, in the field, 5 October 1918.
