    Gunner G. F. Lewis, killed in action, left with the thirteenth reinforcements. He was transferred to the machine-gun section on arrival in England. His early childhood was spent in Paraguay, in the colony founded by the late Mr. Wm. Lane. Since arriving in New Zealand in 1905, and until his enlistment, he has been engaged in dairy-farming at Maungaturoto. (Auckland Weekly News, 1 November 1917, p. 22) AWMM
