Both Frank and Arthur Rawson were part of a local crew of Houhora & Pukenui men involved in the rescue of the Elingemite survivors of 1902. They rowed a whaleboat out to sea to intercept the steamer Zealandia.
Five brothers served in WW1: William Alfred (18896), Arthur Rawson (31105); Frank (12/4281), Alfred Edward (11/497), Harold Tahana (32548). Two, William Alfred (18896) and Alfred Edward (11/497) died in WW1.
