  • He was the eldest child of Edward & Henrietta AUSTIN (nee McLeod). They had thirteen children – Alexander Henry (b1882), Mary Ann (b1883), George Edwin (b1885), Ellen (b1887), William Neil (b1889), Donald (b1892), Malcolm (b1894), Angeline (b1896), Angeline (b1896), Annie Mcleod (b1898), Henrietta (b1900), Claude Leopold (b1902), Oliver (b1903) and Henry Ward (b1907). Two sons enlisted – Alexander Henry (46259) and Malcolm (38644).
    On 28th April 1921, he married Flora Winifred CAMERON. They had no children. He died on the 16th Aug 1956 and is buried in Maunu Cemetery, Whangarei Public - Sandra - Researcher - 21 October 2018 - Waipu Museum
