    Proceeded overseas to France, 18 October 1917.
    Arrived in France and posted to 2nd Battalion, Otago Infantry Regiment; joined unit in the field and taken on strength, 10th (North Otago) Company, 2nd Battalion, Otago Infantry Regiment, 25 October 1917.
    Admitted No 1 BRCS (Duchess of Westminster's) Hospital, Le Touquet, 5 April 1918 (trench foot); evacuated to England and admitted to 2nd London General Hospital (Chelsea), 7 April 1918; transferred to No 1 New Zealand General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 10 April 1918; discharged from hospital and attached to NZEF Headquarters, London, 12 June 1918.
    Admitted to New Zealand Officers' Convalescent Home, Brighton (trench fever), 18 June 1918; discharged to NZEF Headquarters, London, 9 July 1918.
    Marched in to 4th New Zealand Infantry (Reserve) Brigade, Sling Camp, 26 July 1918.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 7 September 1918. Rejoined Battalion in the field, 12 September 1918.
    Reported wounded in action, 29 September 1918. Admitted to No 3 General Hospital, Le Trefort, 4 October 1918 (fractured right shoulder and poisoned hand); evacuated to England and admitted to No 1 New Zealand General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 15 October 1918; discharged from hospital 3 December 1918.
    Admitted to New Zealand Officers' Convalescent Home, Brighton, 6 March 1919; discharged to NZEF Headquarters, 25 March 1919.
    Commenced return to New Zealand on HMNZT 'Ayrshire', 5 August 1919.
    Struck off strength of NZEF and absorbed into the 4th Otago Regiment Coast Defence Detachment with rank of captain with effect from 23 October 1919. AWMM
