  • Hugh McAuley was the son of Patrick and Bridget McAuley, of Ireland.

    Embarked Wellington, 16 October 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 December 1916, and marched in to NZ Reserve Group, Sling Camp. Relinquished appointment of Cook on disembarking.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 1 February 1917; taken on strength, 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 24 February 1917.
    Killed in action, 6 May 1917.
