MR. W. S. Mc LOUGHLIN
The sudden death at his home at Puha on Monday of Mr William Simon McLoughlin, came as a shock to his friends in the district. Of a quiet nature, Mr. McLoughlin devoted practically the whole of his life to farming pursuits, becoming well known in the Rakauroa, Whatatutu and Puha districts. Since returning from the First World War he had lived in these districts, 13 years being spent at Whatatutu. Mr. McLoughlin was educated at the Patutahi School, having been born in that district 51 years ago. Later he attended Sacred Heart College. He spent three years at the front, receiving an injury to his shoulder. Mr. McLoughlin was pre-deceased by his wife by 12 years. To mourn their loss he leaves two sons, Messrs. Kevin and Bede McLoughlin, Puha. A requiem mass was held in the Ormond Catholic Church this morning, prior to the burial taking place at the Soldiers’ Plot in the Taruheru cemetery.
