  • Alfred McCall was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James William McCall, of 20 Moxham Avenue, Hataitai, Wellington, New Zealand.

    Embarked Wellington, 21 November 1917. Disembarked Liverpool, England, entrained for Sling Camp and taken on strength 4th (Reserve) Battalion, The Otago Infantry Regiment, 8 January 1918. Reverts to rank of private, 8 January 1918.
    Marched out of Sling Camp and proceeded overseas to France, 20 March 1918. Marched in to New Zealand Infantry and General Base Depot, Etaples, France, 24 March 1918; taken on strength, 2nd New Zealand Entrenching Battalion, in the field, 28 March 1918.
    Reported missing, 19 April 1918; now reported missing, believed prisoner of war, 16 April 1918, proceedings of Court of Enquiry, 19 May 1918; now reported killed in action, 16 April 1916, proceedings of Court of Enquiry, 18 October 1918.
