      "A strong Machine Gun post was holding up a post of the advance and Rifleman Batty and Lowe and a third companion noticing this at once dashed forward to rush the post. The third man was killed but Batty and Lowe bombed the post and rushing forward captured the machine Guns and the garrison of one Officer and 10 other ranks. By his coolness and decision Riflemand Batty save many casualties and greatly assisted the advance." London Gazette 24 January 1919, p1254, Rec No 2428 AWMM
