  • Obituary
Mr. Thomas McConnell, of Clifford street, has received word that his nephew Corporal W. McConnell, was killed in action on Sept. 12. Corporal McConnell left Gisborne with the Sixteenth Reinforcements after a residence in the Bay for about twelve years. He had been employed by Messrs. Mackrell and Colley and C. R. Skeet, and left town to take up a selection near Wairoa, leaving bright prospects there to "do his bit" for his country. Deceased was well Known, his obliging and kindly nature winning him many friends.
