    News has been received locally of the death in action of Rifleman P. R. McConville, who was killed on June 18. Rifleman Peter McConville was veil known in Gisborne, where he was at one time employed by Mr. D. J. Barry at the brewery, and later was in business for himself as an accountant. He was prominent in athletics locally, being a member of the Gisborne Rowing Club and the Gisborne Boxing Association. He left Gisborne with the 16th Reinforcements. At the time of. his death in action he was about 20 years of age. He was the third son of Mrs. M. McConville , now of Ponsonby, Auckland, and was educated at the Gisborne District High School, and at the Collage of the Sacred.
