  • Son of Roberta Polson, Christchurch

Polson went to South Africa twice - first with the Fifth Contingent and then again with the Eighth Contingent as Second-in-command (2I/C) of the North Island Regiment.

Polson retired with the rank of Major on 31 July 1912.

Polson's brother, George McLeod Polson, also served with the Eighth Contingent during the Anglo-Boer War.

NB. Haigh & Polaschek mention that Polson "went to Sth Africa . 20 Jun 1900". However, his unit left on 31 March 1900. The later date could be when he arrived in South Africa. AWMM
