    Advice has been received locally that Rifleman Robert McCullough of Makauri, died of wounds on Christmas day. Deceased, who was well known in this country district, was shepherding prior to his enlistment. He left Gisborne with the 15th Reinforcements, and recent letters stated he left England for the Western front on 22 October. Rifleman McCullough was the youngest on of Mr Matthew McCullough, of Makauri and came to the district with his parents five years ago.
