    Died of disease while a prisoner of war. Actual date of death unknown. It is recorded in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as between 1 January 1917 and 31 December 1918.

    Embarked Wellington on board HMNZT 'Mauganui', 26 June 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 22 August 1916; marched in to Sling Camp, 23 August 1916.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 29 June 1916; joined 1st Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 12 October 1916.
    Admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 23 April 1917 (injured right hand); rejoined Bn, 26 April 1917.
    Admitted to No 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 24 September 1917 (influenza); transferred to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 25 September 1917; to No 7 Convalescent Camp, Boulogne, 9 October 1917; to No 10 Convalescent Camp, 12 October 1917; to No 13 Convalescent Camp, Trouville, 4 November 1917; attached to NZ Base Depot, Etaples, 31 December 1917.
    Joined No 2 NZ Entrenching Bn, in the field, 17 March 1918.
    Reported missing, 16 April 1918; subsequently reported Prisoner of War, Limburg, Germany.
    Died of influenza, between 16 April and 31 December 1918.
