  • Attended Richmond School and Nelson college and worked on the home farm until the First World War.

    Served with the Territorials in Nelson from 1914 prior to his enlistment and subsequent deployment to the Western Front in Oct 1917.

    Served with the NZ Machine Gun Corps on active sercice, Dec 1917 until de-mobbed at Cologne, Germany (with the Army of Occupation) early 1919.

    had a small farm at Appleby near Nelson until retirement from active farming in 1955. He lived on in retirement on the farm homestead in Appleby until his invalided move to Auckland in 1982. AWMM
