    • Gabriel McIlroy was the son of Hugh and Susan McIlroy, of Christchurch, New Zealand.

      Enlisted 16 December 1916; service reckons from 3 January 1917.

      Embarked for France 21 June 1917 and joined the Battalion in the Field on 8 July 1917.

      Gabriel signed his attestation as McElroy., and the Military records are all listed with this spelling. All of the surnames have been corrected throughout the Online Cenotaph record to the New Zealand Birth registered name McIlroy, the name of his parents and other siblings. AWMM
