    Proceeded overseas to France, 26 October 1917; joined 1st Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 8 November 1917.
    Attached to Australian Tunnellers, 7 December 1917; rejoined Bn from attachment, 19 January 1918.
    Admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 30 August 1918 (shrapnel wound, contusion, left wrist); transferred to 63rd Casualty Clearing Station, 1 September 1918; to 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, 2 September 1918; to England, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 2 October 1918; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 4 November 1918
    Commenced return to NZ from Liverpool on board SS 'Oxfordshire', 19 December 1918; discharged, 2 March 1919.
    Total war service: 2 years 14 days (of which 1 year 236 days was abroad)
