    Embarked Wellington, 16 July 1917; admitted to ship's hospital, 3 September 1917 (bronchitis); discharged from ship's hospital, 4 September 1917; disembarked Liverpool, England, 16 September 1917, and marched into 5th Reserve Bn, Tidworth.
    Found guilty, 5 November 1917, of being 'out of bounds': forfeited 2 days' pay.
    Admitted to hospital, Rugeley, 23 January 1918 (infection of larynx); discharged to Brocton, 22 February 1918; admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 25 February 1918 (phthsis).
    Classified unfit by Medical Board (tubercle of lung), and placed on NZ Roll, 16 March 1918.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Liverpool on board HT 'Ulimaroa', 1 May 1918; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service: tubercle of lung), 20 August 1918.
    Total war service: 1 year 168 days (of which 334 days were abroad)
    Medal: British War Medal
