  • Bedford's next of kin is incorrectly recorded as his father.

    Bedford left for France on 28 May 1917 shortly after he became ill and was admitted, on 17 June 1917, to an isolation hospital suffering from mumps. By mid July he had developed gallstones and was evacuated to No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst. He survived only two and a half more months and died as a result of an abscess on the liver.     • All Saints Church, 284 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby Auckland 1011 AWMM
    • An eagle lectern was made and given in Sgt Bedford's memory to St Thomas Church, Union St Freeman's Bay. The lectern was transferred to St Matthew-in-the-City in 1967; then loaned to MOTAT for their historic village in 1974. It was returned to St Matthew's in 2022 and now sits in the Peace Chapel.
