MM. London Gazette, 21 September 1916, p9206, Rec No 56: "This NCO went out in charge of a patrol on the nights of the 13th/14th, 14th/15th, 15th/16th June and bought back information in regard to the going into "no mans land" over which a raiding part from the Second Battalion, 3rd Rifle Brigade had to operate. His report on ground, enemy wire and listening post was exact and contributed largely to the success of the raid. With a patrol on the 25th/26th June one night of the raid he located an enemy party working on their wire. And again on the night of the 26th/27th he went out to the enemy wire and reported that nothing had been done to repair the wire cut by two T.M. batteries." AWMM
