  • Frank was my father's mother's brother (maternal uncle). The Nicolson is spelt without an h. The family travelled to New Zealand from the Shetland Islands and settled just outside Gore. Frank worked as a dredge hand with his father. Frank's name is on a local memorial at Willobwbank just out of Gore between Gore and Maitalnd. We still live locally as do two of his neices who are now 93 and 81!
