  • Baxter fought to the utmost against the power of the military machine during WW1. He never enlisted but was a conscientious objector for all his life. Baxter records the violence used against him, and 13 others, in "We will not cease". I find it objectionable that his name appears here in a manner that is totally silent of the atrocities he and others suffered at the hands of the New Zealand military machine. Archie Baxter hoped to see the abolition of all war. May we all work towards that end.
