  • On 5 February 1917 my uncle, John Stewart McKee, was killed at Messines.. On the same day back in New Zealand his younger brother James McKee, my father, commenced work in the Chertsey Post Office. He was just 13. The very first telegram he delivered was to his parents with the news of Stewart's death.
