    Proceeded overseas to France, 16 October 1917; taken on strength, 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 11 November 1917, and posted to 8th Company.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 11 December 1917 (myalgia); rejoined Bn, in the field, 17 December 1917.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 22 June 1918 (sprained right ankle: accident; soldier on duty at the time; in no way to blame); transferred to 3rd Canadian Stationary Hospital, Doullens, 24 June 1918; to Ambulance Train No 12, 25 June 1918, and admitted to 10th General Hospital, Rouen, 26 June 1918; transferred to 74th General Hospital, Trouville, 3 July 1918; to No 4 Convalescent Depot, Havre, 22 July 1918; to No 2 General Hospital, Havre, 23 July 1918 (pyrexia, unknown origin); to Base Depot, Havre, 14 August 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 14 October 1918.
    Commenced return to New Zealand from Plymouth on board HMNZT 'Kigoma', 31 May 1919; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service on account of illness contracted on Active service: fractured right wrist), 18 November 1919.
