  • William McKenzie was the son of Margaret R. McKenzie, of 14 Avonhead Rd., Riccarton, Christchurch, New Zealand. Native of Waikaia, Invercargill.

    Embarked Wellington, 16 October 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 December 1916, and marched in to Reserve Group, Sling Camp.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 11 February 1917.
    Admitted to 4th General Hospital, Etaples, 17 February 1917 (orchitis); transferred to England, 23 February 1917, and admitted to 1st NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 24 February 1917; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 20 April 1917; discharged to Convalescent Depot, Codford, 24 April 1917.
    Marched out to France with Divisional Employment Company, 30 May 1917; joined 2nd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, 18 August 1917.
    Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
