  • James Lawrence was the son of James Greene and Margaret Greene, both of Ireland who emigrated to New Zealand in the 1860's. (James from Fermanagh and Margaret from Dublin.) James, his sister Mary Jane and his older brother Francis John Greene attended the Ararimu School. The brothers both fought in WW1 but Francis was KIA 8th May 1918 in France. James suffered a 'gun shot wound' (GSW) during the war and was discharged and returned to New Zealand in early 1919. He died on the 5th September 1956.
