DFC Citation, 17 October 1944
:
Acting Flying Officer Raoul John WISKER
(N.Z.415255), R.N.Z.A.F., 75 i(N.Z.) Sqn.
On one occasion in July, 1944, Flying Officer
Wisker was captain of an aircraft detailed to
attack a flying bomb site near Lizzieux. On the
bombing run, the aircraft was repeatedly hit by
anti-aircraft fire, one shell bursting immediately
beneath the starboard iwing causing the aircraft to
go into a violent spiral dive. This officer managed
to regain control, however, and despite severe
damage to the aircraft, he made a second bombing
run and executed a successful attack. It was
later discovered that his aircraft had sustained
205 holes. Flying Officer Wisker has just completed a most successful tour of operations and
throughout has proved himself to be a keen and
conscientious pilot.
