My uncle stayed with our family at Mosgiel, Otago, after he was discharged. He could not go back to teaching so went on to study accountancy in Dunedin and eventually had a practice in Kaitaia.
As I was about 7yrs old I did not know that he was suffering from PTSD, a more modern term, but called nervous exhaustion in the family. I have no hard details but I now understand that he served behind Japanese lines on some Pacific islands.
