Our brother "Wetini" accidentally died from a tragic fall whilst in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia performing with the 1st Battalion - Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, Maori Concert Group “MCG” (Kapa Haka) promoting New Zealand culture, for the NZ Trade Promotion Board and the New Zealand Embassies. The Maori Culture Group were heavily involved with NZ Embassies and various trade promotion organizations during their free time off from training duties and work commitments whilst posted to the New Zealand Forces South East Asia in the Singapore/Malaysia region on 2 year Tour of Duties. Remember this brave soldier who was sent far away from his home, friends and whanau. Died in a foreign land as he was willing to put his life on the line for his country and the fight for freedom.
