Note
Stewart Alexander Aitken was born in 1890, son of Helen Stewart and James Allison Aitken. He was killed in action on 29 April 1918 in France at the age of 27 years and 9 months. He lived in Waikaka Valley, Invercargill. My grandmother Jessie Aitken was his first cousin and also lived in Waikaka Valley, so they would have been close. Jessie met and married Francis Ritchie Blue when he was school teacher at Waikaka Valley. My father, Stewart Aitken Strang Blue was born in 1909 and would have known Stewart (he also shares his first name, and has Aitken as a middle name). I am very sad that he lost his life in this horrible war. I am interested in genealogy, and visited Waikaka Valley to see where my roots came from - and saw the memorial to Stewart. I would very much like to visit Stewart's grave or memorial stone in France if it exists. I have always had an affinity to France.
