Michael Tobin lived in a public works camp after the war at Kopaki, which was located on my parents farm at Kopaki. Michael went to the RSA home in Auckland when he retired, he visited us often. When he died, we were his "Family" and some of his war records were sent to us. Ribbons, birth certificate, photo of soldiers and nurses on the steps of a building, certificate of discharge. I was just a young boy growing up when Michael was around and found his papers after my parents died. My Uncle (Dads brother) died in Crete, WW2, and I remember dad wanting to throw a visitor out, a local elderly man who wanted a petition signed to send away a local man who lived on his mothers farm, he was shell shocked, WW2, and he upset the locals when he ran a lot when he was unsettled with his condition. Funny thing he never scared us children, we never felt at ease with him, and could talk to him.
