Winifered Ellen Spencer died in 1984, aged 94 years. Was a staff Nursing Sister, Army in Palestine and Egypt in WW1. W.E. Spencer is buried @ Purewa Cemetery, alongside her husband, Harrison Nutter Spencer, also a soldier in Palestine. Met her husband in Apia, Samoa in 19820, after the annexation of that country from Germany. Was a prominent person in the NZ RSA for 70 years and nursed American soldiers at Ellerlelie Greenlane in WW2, upon donning her nursing uniform again. Her WW1 nursing uniform (complete with all its epaulettes), is preserved in a small Museum attached to New Plymouth Hospital where she trained. Their only son (my Father, is having his 90th Birthday @ Taupo on 28th June (this month), attended by his four siblings from his first marriage ( Jeremy (myself), Sue, Sarah and Nigel. We are coming from as far afield as Western Australia, Canberra and Wellington. Dad Dr John
