Note
My Grandfather Nathan Campbell (my mother Merle's father) fought at the battle of Passchendaele. He returned home shell-shocked (PTSD today) and lungs affected by German gas to a New Zealand in depression. He and his wife (my grandmother Mabel) lived and worked through the depression with minimal food and money and much hard work. He lived to a good age however, to see his two daughters (Merle and Norma) (or Lurlene and Margaret) married with 6 children. His son Geoffrey went to the second world war in the Solomon Islands. He also lived to tell the tale.
