Mare Amoa returned to Rarotonga and married Tereapii Pittman. They had many children. His many descendants are scattered all over the world. Two of his children are still alive today; Tamati Amoa (Rarotonga) and Tutu Seil (Auckland) nee Amoa. When he returned home after the war, Mare became a school teacher. He eventually went blind and it was his son Tamati who helped him. Mare is buried in Muri, Ngatangiia on the family marae. Next to the marae is the site of the home Mare lived in.
