My dads eldest brother Te Rangi Arena (Allen) was in 28 Maori Battalion with Uncle Aporo. My father Marsh was in Kayforce. When I was a kid my parents, uncle Te Rangi and Aunty Renee would take us to visit Uncle Aporo and Aunty Peggy. I remember Uncle Aporo because of his sense of humour and kindness - he would eat his dessert before his main meal and tease Aunty Peggy when she'd tell him off. Because of course all of us kids would want to do exactly the same thing!
