'Ground Shot Over' TURKS INSTEAD OF RABBITS. Writing to his brother in Wellington, Trooper R. B. Burn of the Canterbury Mounted Rifles, a brother of the Lieutenant Burn, the aviator, makes some interesting remarks upon the Dardanelles campaign. He likens the fighting area to "ground that has been shot over before, with rabbits lying here and there." "That", he continues, "is exactly what these hills are like, only dead men are dotted about. From where I am now I can see four dead Turks lying in a space of a quarter of an acre. No one bothers to bury them unless there is an armistice is declared. Last time that happened 2000 Turks were buried."
