Note
John Dunch McMillan and his Pilot, Raymond George Cuthbert Payne, RNZAF. were tragically killed on Thu 24 Feb 1944 when the aircraft they were flying - DH Mosquito LR343, was seen to break up in the air and crash 2 miles north of Nuthampstead, U.K. I Grew up in the Village of Nuthampstead and as a child i was told stories of the Mosquito that crashed locally. It sparked a fire in me and a coupe of years ago a friend of mine located the crash site of this aircraft. Over the last 2 years we have put a lot of hours into finding out what went wrong for them that day. A full (non destructive) site survey was carried out by University experts in Nov 2014. Research is on-going and we now have a clearer picture emerging. I would love to hear from anyone who knew John or Ray. Or any surviving family/relatives. We are happy to share any information we might have that you may not.
