He explains a waiata tawhito and then sings it. My husband Karl Leonard who is Ngāti Ngāraranui and Ngāti Rangiwewehi have revived this waiata. I saw the name 'Togo Naera' with picture next to his. It grabbed me because often 'Togo' is a mispronunciation of the prefix to Māori names that start with 'Toko'. My uncle all my life was uncle Togo growing up - full name Tokorārangi. Well we know better now. It noted he was killed in action, Italy campaign, buried in Florence or Firenze. Karl & I visited this urupā with the kura ā-iwi Māori o Whangaparaoa, seniors. I saw this name. Nā reira he tuku aroha tēnei nāku ki te tupuna nei i kitea e mātou e takoto mai rā ki tarawāhi ao. Moe mai i tō marae o tuawhakarere, o ō tūpuna.
