I have personal letters to and from the Cowles family members before and after his death, communication within the Army while on active service, from the NZ Minister of Defence, the High Commissioner's Office in London, a newspaper report about his death, from the Base Records Branch (Wellington), the War Office (Whitehall, London) sent by Winston Churchill (Secretary of State for War) and a few photos of J. R. Cowles.
