We the direct descendants of Hipa and the three brothers Pulu, Peni and Hemu who went to WW1 and the other 146 young men from Niue, will always hold you close to heart. Your sacrifice in a war that our small island country had no cause, was a response to the call of England. You suffered diseases, the extreme cold and hot weathers, foreign hostile environments, and lost two brothers Peni and Pulu, who buried at sea, in the waters of Qatar, thousands of miles from Niue.
On every ANZAC Day we not only lay a wreath in remembrance of you and your brothers, but our children, and their children will keep this day very special.
On this ANZAC day Monday 25th April, here in the Auckland Museum, we are walking through the WW1 Exhibition, trying to walk in your footsteps, but not the same.
With the greatest of respect, honor and humility, we carry your names, and your sacrifices will live on in
