Born 16 November 1895 George married Irene Jackson settled and farmed in Opiki, Manawatu. He had two daughters Muriel Joan (Married Norman Thacker) and Patricia Mary Francis (Married Ronald John Campbell) As he was injured at Gallipoli he did not serve in the field for WW11, but acted as a training officer, based in Blenheim during that time. He is buried in the Ashhurst Cemetary (next to his wife) along with his parents. During his time he became a noted expert on native NZer's and I was told he was offered the first chair in Maori Studies at Massey University, however before taking up this position he suffered a debilitating stroke. He lived part time in Auckland and part time in Opiki. He was passionate about NZ history and leant both time and many of his precious books to the New Plymouth museum and Alexander Turnbull Library, the latter having lost several very rare volumes when fam
