Kia ora whanau.
Arohanui ko te tupuna.

Wattie was my Grandfather David (Te Arawa Pakere ) Barclay half brother.

My father, like the rest of our Whanau was, and still are, immensely proud of Watties Service & sacrifice to the security of our beloved Aotearoa .
His contributions to the
advancement of Maori in New Zealand through his Mana achieved on the Battle Fields of Gallipoli & Europe and his exploits on the Rugby Paddocks of the World as a member & later Capt of the NZ Maori Allblacks, will remain forever in our hearts.

As a young boy of 4 or 5 I dreamed of joining the Army.
Fortunately I was eventually able to follow in his footsteps and serve with the Royal New Zealand Army for 12yrs from 1976 -1989.

As a member of 2/1 & 1 RNZIR and later with 1NZSAS I was always conscious of his legacy and carried is Mana with me in my heart throughout my service.

Thankyou Walter Puka
