Note
Les was one of twelve first cousins to serve in WW1. He was a country lad brought up at Korere in the Motupiko Valley and later the family moved to Three Channel Flat near Inangahua, where they had a small farm and Arnold's Hotel. I also visited Les’s grave in Ploegsteert Wood on July 16 2017, during a tour of The Somme and Ypres salient Battlefields. He is in a truly beautiful place and with his mates. I submit this on the 100th anniversary of his death. He lies about 2km from where the Christmas Truce was held and in the middle of a wood.
