I am a great-grandson of Gladys Douglas Dean-Pitt Reid, a first cousin of Captain Pitt. I just wanted to say that I am sorry my branch of the family was mean to his because of his Maori mother. This is very sad, especially because my great-grandmother, being a Birdwood, had Indian blood, although she may not have known it. Again, I apologize, and I admire his service and his heritage.
