I found this information online while researching my family tree. I was looking at the family of my Great Grandfather, Captain Thomas Henry Clarkson's older sister Caroline Louisa Clarkson (1858-1894). She married George William White, the Harbourmaster at Picton and Melville White was their son. When I saw he had died in 1917 I wondered if he had died in WWI, and so it proved. I found his death to be very tragic, like that of all the young men who died in this war. Melville was one of 9 children.
