I do not remember meeting him as I was only seven month's old when he died. My Grandmother 'Nan' Dicks second wife Phyllis Dunce told me I was in hospital being treated for third degree burns when he was admitted. The only thing I remember hearing about that time was moment's after he died the Doctor's asked my Nan if they could have His eye's. Evidently as the story goes, she gave permission and later there was a tribute of sorts in the local paper thanking him and his family for the donation of sight to a local person. My Mother Janet Sieverts (nee Miles) instructed me to destroy my Grandfathers 'Medals given to me by my Nan when I was young. He was never really spoken about and sadley His service not recognized by my immediate family. I am now married to a thirty year Veteran and feel very proud of every Veterans service. Sadly NO medals though Your reason for reporting this contribution Your name Your email address Cancel
