My grandfather is Te Rimu Kara from Muriwai. My mother is Ngahuia Kara deceased 2008. She married my father Hoani Papa Russell.

I discovered Taha Kara through this site in April this year. I never knew about him. Its been so sad.
My friends travelled to Somme, France in September this year and visited papa taha where he rests in Bertrancourt military cemetery. This confirmed with photos. It's been amazing to research my papa's younger brother.
There is also another soldier 'Te Hau' next to Taha. We suspect they both came from Muriwai.

My papa Te Rimu is resting with my nan and their children in a small urupa Moteo, Puketapu.
We will lay a memorial stone for Taha Kara on top of my papa Te Rimu on new years eve 2018.
This is so he brings in the new year with us.

We hope to travel to France one day. I would like to lay a poppy at his stone from his whanau.
One day ...
