II was around 11 years old when I spent a couple of years with my grandad Roy, in Rotorua. I knew he had been wounded but he didn't talk about his time in the war. In order to honour his memory and service and to help me understand what he experienced at Gallipoli I have read several books and have won the ballot to attend the ANZAC day service at Gallipoli April 2015. I will treasure the canvas wallet he made in the NZ Convalescent Hospital in Hornchurch Xmas 1916.
