In May 1942 he wrote to Marie Third, at Te Hapara School in Gisborne, thanking her for a balaclava she knitted. Michael Louis Crequer Jr. (1918-1978) had lived with his parents in Ashburton and was an electrician’s apprentice before enlisting. His father was Michael Louis Crequer Sr. and his mother was Ellen Elizabeth née Brady. His brother Vincent James Crequer (1916) also served in WWII, and he appears to have had one sister Mary Kathleen. A letter from Marie Third much later on mentions she found the ephemera while clearing out her childhood home for demolition (the site at 22 Williams Street Cambridge and shows she tried to track down Crequer relatives internationally to return the items but was unsuccessful. In December 2017 these were finally returned to the Crequer family. Where did your information come from?: Original images © Justin G.
